Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, has described the death of the Chairman of Ibadan Elders’ Forum, Chief Olusola Sanu, as a great loss to Ibadan in particular and Nigeria in general.
The traditional ruler, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Mr Dele Ogunsola, said that the late Sanu would be greatly missed for his elderly disposition to issues and unalloyed commitment to Ibadan cause.
He condoled with the Sanu family and Ibadan indigenes, both at home and in the Diaspora, over the death of the retired diplomat.
Oba Balogun urged them to be thankful to God for the grace given to the deceased and the positive contributions he was able to make to mankind.
“It is with rude shock that I received the news of the demise of one of our elder statesmen, Amb. Olusola Sanu, who was a stabilising force in the socio-political activities of our people in Ibadanland.
“I consider his death, at this particular time, as a personal loss to the throne of Ibadanland, in view of his wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom which the throne will miss.
“However, we are helpless because it is not within the purview of any mortal to prevent the Creator from calling to His side whoever He chooses and at what time.
“We equally take solace in the fact that our revered patriot left behind good, sound and robust legacies that will continue to speak well of him several decades after his demise.
“He lived and died well. May the Lord grant his soul eternal rest”, Olubadan said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Sanu, a career diplomat, died on March 21 at the age of 92.
