The Police in Osun, on Monday, arraigned one Aremu Quadril, 25, before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of phones belonging to some students of Zoology Department, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 23, around 2:21 p.m. at OAU, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant entered into zoology department, with the intent to steal.
He stated that the defendant stole one iPhone X, valued at N175,000, property of one Adeolu Oluwaseyi, a student of the department.
The prosecutor further said that the defendant, on Nov. 15, 2021 around 05:00 p.m. also stole Infinix Note 5, valued at N85,000, property of one Adereti Bankole, and one power bank, valued at N5,000, belonging to Adegbesan Favour.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 390(9) and 413(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of intent to commit felony and stealing.
The Magistrate, A.I. Oyebadejo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.
Oyebadejo added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, must be gainfully employed.

The magistrate also ordered that the surety must have his/her address verified and submit three recent passport photographs.
The case was, thereafter, adjourned till March 30, for hearing.
