As founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, celebrates another birthday, she has emotionally remembered her brother, Michael, who was killed by some gunmen believed to be armed robbers in 2014.
She is gripped by the need to celebrate her gift of life, and the tragedy that continues to beset her fatherland, Nigeria.
Her May 30 birthday came only days after a train was attacked by terrorists on Abuja-Kaduna route, killing and injuring many compatriots.
In a Facebook post announcing her vital day, Anyiam-Osigwe notes:
I am 100% chilled with the CHI of the universe.
Today am only going to keep saying thank you. My new year will be that of immense gratitude. For I know the CHI has a plan.
My country Nigeria pains me . So many lives lost and families being thrown into mourning. I’m sure this is not God’s plan for a country so blessed with human and natural resources. As we prepare to bring forth new leaders for our country let’s do it for all the souls we have lost unnecessarily. I never forget that I lost my dear brother Michael 💔 on the roads of Nigeria… It haunts my every waking moment for my brother was a perfect gentleman of immense intelligence and compassion.
As I celebrate this birthday I entrust our country Nigeria to the CHI of the universe to bless us with with Peace and leaders that will bring forth the immense potential of our country.
To all the families in mourning at this time may the CHI embrace and comfort you.
To all of us lets make sure we use our votes to get Nigeria back and not live in fear or have a plan B , there is no place like home.
