Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, has revealed the reason he does not dye his hair.
His hair has rapidly grown grey in the past 22 years he has been holding top political offices.
Many will consider him lucky as far as this democratic dispensation is concerned as he has moved from one top position to another.
Some will consider the positions ‘juicy’, in the Nigerian calculation of democratic dividends to office holders.
He first tasted limelight when he served Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government.
He later got the huge opportunity to be governor for eight years, after which he landed in Abuja as Buhari’s super Minister.
He is, however, rated as one of the performing officials in the country’s democratic terrain, which is littered with looters and lazy minds.
Perhaps it is the burden he has had to face that has made him age faster – at least considering his hair.
Speaking on the matter on Wednesday, he said the development was partly genetic and partly stress-related.
He said he never bothered to dye the hair because he would not have enough time to continue to do so while he did not also believe in looking young when he indeed was getting old.
In an interview with Babajide Kolade Otitoju on TVC, Fashola said, “It is partly genetic and partly a matter of stress. I don’t know any public servant worth his salt and doing his work who will not experience this. I know many of my colleagues who shave their hair to the barest skin to look otherwise. I also don’t fancy dyeing my hair because it is cosmetic. I really don’t have the time to be dying my hair. And then, who am I deceiving by concealing the grey hair?”
He also spoke on the success the Federal Government is recording in the Second Niger Bridge project.
