A Grade I Area Court in Dei-dei, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced a 28-year-old housekeeper, Amonky Kelly, to nine months imprisonment for stealing 100 dollars from a hotel guest.
The convict pleaded guilty to the crime and begged the court for leniency.
Delivering ruling, the Judge, Mr Sulyman Ola sentenced Kelly with an option to pay N40, 000 as fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olaonipekun Babajide told the court that the convict who resides in Dei-dei, was a housekeeper in ‘George Town Hotel’, Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja.
Babajida informed the court that on Feb.19, the convict criminally entered into one of the hotel rooms while on duty and stole 100dollars from a guest, Mr Tsenongu Dakidi.
He said during police investigation, the stolen money was found in the possession of the convict.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code Law.
