Wife of Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dr Aisha Mohammed, has donated an ambulance to the Physico-social and Referral Centre to improve healthcare services in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the governor’s wife, Ms Murjantu Maidawa, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Maidawa said that the gesture was part of Mrs Mohammed’s efforts at ensuring that victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGVB) had access to quick healthcare services.
She further stated that the donation was also part of activities marking the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD).
“The ambulance will help in transporting victims of SGBV to where they will be given medical attention,” Maidawa said.
She said that the governor’s wife also supported patients in gynecology and maternity wards in the state Specialist Hospital with funds.
Maidawa added that Mohammed was at Kamfanin Kutare community in Bauchi Local Government Area to celebrate the IWD with women at the grassroots.
She said that the governor’s wife donated three sets of wheelchairs, pledged to drill a borehole and gave five students scholarships.
