Mr Abdullahi Candido, the outgoing Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has called on the incoming administration to uphold the council’s institutions and ensure they serve the people of the area council.
Candido gave the advice when he visited the Chief of Karu, on a valedictory tour to the traditional rulers in the area council on Friday in Abuja.
The outgoing chairman said that it was important for the incoming administration to embrace the institutions established during his tenure and ensure that they outlived their administrations.
He said that the institutions, which served as means of livelihood, revenue and development of the area council could not be ignored.
“We have the AMAC Investment and Property Development Company, AMAC Marshall, AMAC Microfinance Bank, AMAC Community Radio.
“We also have the AMAC School of the Gifted, which has not been completed but I wish someone else will complete that project.
“I want to plead that you do not ignore what you are meeting, rather increase their strength,” he said.
On the aim of the visit, the chairman said his administration had enjoyed the blessings of the traditional rulers as such it would not be good to leave office without appreciating their support.
He therefore called on the traditional rulers to extend their good wishes, prayers and blessings to the incoming administration.
On his part, the Chief of Karu, Dr Emmanuel Yepwi, who appreciated the chairman for the visit, said it was the first of its kind.
“You have shown that you are a non-partisan, we are praying for you to go to a higher position.
“You are worthy to be emulated, you are honest and say the truth at all times. I wish other indigenous politicians will learn from you,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Candido is expected to handover to Mr Christopher Zakka, the Chairman-elect of AMAC, on May 20.
