8 schools qualify for Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup’s quarter-finals in Ekiti

Eight secondary schools have emerged as qualifiers for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Prof. Akin Oyebode football competition in Ekiti.

The Chairman, Ekiti Football Association, Bayo Lanlege, disclosed this in a statement by the association’s Secretary, Pelumi Abiara, on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

Lanlege listed the schools to include Mary Hill Boys High School, Ado-Ekiti, St. Augustine High School, Oye Ekiti, Methodist High School, Egbe-Ekiti and Omuo Comprehensive High School, Omuo-Ekiti.

the rest are Ileona Community High School, Aramoko-Ekiti, Corpus Christi High School, Ilawe-Ekiti, Egbe Oba Secondary School, Ikole-Ekiti and Iworoko Community High School, Iworoko-Ekiti.

“Mary Hill Boys High School will take on St. Augustine High School, while Egbe Oba Secondary School will face Iworoko Community High School.

“The other two quarter-final fixtures will see Methodist High School go up against Omuo Comprehensive High School, Omuo-Ekiti, while Ileona Community High School will challenge Corpus Christi High School,” the statement said.

The Ekiti state FA chairman added that the matches would be played on Saturday at the football pitch of Ado Grammar School in Ado-Ekiti.

Lanlege expressed delight with the number of talented players which had been discovered from the competition.

He stated that the final match of the competition would be held on April 10 as scheduled.

The state FA chairman disclosed that Ekiti FA have got good support from the competition’s sponsors, the Oyebode’s family.

“The family is led by Akintunde Oyebode, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Ekiti, and they have put in place measures to ensure the success of the all-secondary schools football tournament,” he said.
