Two men were on Friday brought before a Yaba Chief magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing 302 cartons of juice blenders worth N60 million and receiving stolen property.
The defendants are; Muthar Isau, 47, and Akindele Monsuru, 39.
The first defendant is facing first two counts of conspiracy and stealing alongside the second defendant.
However, the second defendant is solely facing an additional two counts of receiving stolen property and accessories.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 2, on Ikorodu expressway, Lagos.
Momah said that the first defendant and another accomplice still at large, stole 302 cartons of juice blenders from a company they worked for; Khafaga Import and Export Company.
She alleged that the first defendant, Isau, sold the blenders to the second defendant.
She also told the court that the second defendant assisted the bus boy, who was an accomplice in the matter, to escape police arrest.
The offences contravene sections 411, 280, 328 and 415 of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 411 stipulates two years imprisonment for the offence of conspiracy while 280 stipulates seven years for stealing.
NAN further reports that section 328 attracts 14 years for receiving stolen property while 415 stipulates two years for accessories after the fact.
The defendants were granted bail in the sum of N10 million each with three sureties each in like sum.

Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, said the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until April 26 for mention.
