No fewer than 150 women in Bauchi State have benefited from free medical screening exercise organised by the Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN).
Mrs Fatima Abubakar, Youth Leader, FOMWAN, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday in Bauchi, that the exercise was designed to enable the beneficiaries to ascertain their health status and ways to improve on it.
Abubakar said that the exercise was part of the contributions of the youth wing of the organisation as part of its ongoing two-day conference.
She said that the women were screened for High Blood Pressure (HBP), diabetic and other ailments.
“The youth wing is contributing to the conference with medical screening of 150 women. Referral will be based on information generated for patients that need further medical attention,” she said..
One of the beneficiaries, Aisha Muhammad, said that the screening availed her opportunity to know her health status.

“For some time I haven’t checked my BP because I don’t feel sick but today I confirmed that it is on high side.
“I appreciate the exercise because from now on I’ll be on watch for my health,” she said.
