President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Primate of The Church of The Lord Worldwide (TCLW), Most Rev. Rufus Ositelu, on his 70th birthday.

In a congratulatory message by his Media Aide, Mr Femi Adesina, on Wednesday in Abuja, Buhari joined all church leaders, members, family and friends of Ositelu in sharing in the joyous occasion.

The president rejoiced with the TCLW leader, as he turned a septuagenarian, taking into account his many contributions to national development, particularly in education, health and infrastructure, and most significantly, consistently upholding the nation in prayers.

According to him, the scholarly background of Ositelu greatly impacted on his influence, teachings and leadership, and has translated into gains for many, showing clearly in the many leadership roles he had played.

The president noted that such leadership positions included: former Vice President of Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), former President and Initiator, United Aladura Churches (UAC) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He also recalled that the cleric was once an elected member of the Central Committee, Executive Committee and Finance Committee of World Council of Churches (WCC).

According to Buhari, Ositelu’s high sense of patriotism is evidenced in the way he counsels leaders on programmes and policies with direct impact on the livelihood of people.

He said that the Aladura patriarch had also demonstrated the patriotism in empowerment of youth and women as well as elimination of violence against women and children, thus further confirming his love for humanity.

The president prayed for the wellbeing of the church leader in health, strength and wisdom.
