Many Nigerians are praising Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa, for reaching out to embattled member of Nigeria’s Atlanta ’96 Olympics Golden Dream Team, Kingsley Obiekwu.
Things are far from being rosy for Obiekwu as he now uses his only car for taxi in Enugu.
As a result, Musa gave him N2m, which Obiekwu has confirmed.

Musa has done very well. Its really sad to see that our football legends can barely keep up with 3 square meals a day, most of them even die wretched like Rashidi Yekini. The Sports Industry in Nigeria needs a total overhaul, there must be provisions made to adequately compensate those who represented and served the country. A pension scheme or something related can be set up. Its also not enough to give them money, there have to be other schemes set up that can help them transition better when they retire from football, they need to be educated remember most of these guys didnt go to school so they had little or no control over how to manage their finances back then. Their agents and managers probably took advantage of their illiteracy and in exposure to defraud most of them thats why most are penniless today.

Ahmed Musa is always known for his generosity (a source once told me)… I expect other international stars (especially his teammates back in the days, who were privileged to have made it to stardom) to replicate same… Let’s appreciate him while he still lives… Thanks once more, Ahmed Musa… May God Bless you greatly.
