Police arraign man, 37, for allegedly stealing motorcycle

The Police on Monday arraigned a 37-year-old man, Kabiru Mohammed, before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing motorcycle.

The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 5 in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendant stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N200, 000 belonging to one Bello Umar.

He said the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Adekunle Aladesuyi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mrs Mojisola Salau, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case to Jan.31 for hearing
