Man arraigned for allegedly giving false information to police

A 31-year-old man, Victor Keve, was on Thursday docked in a Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly giving false information to the police.

The police charged Keve, who resides in Gwako, Gwagwalada with criminal force assault and giving false information to the police.

The Prosecution Counsel, Abudulahi Tanko, told the court that the defendant reported a case against Miss Grace Mbah of Sabi Ido village Gwagwalada, Abuja on Jan. 10.

He said that the defendant allegedly accused Mbah of stealing his deep freezer, generator set and N56,000 cash.

Tanko told the court when both parties were asked to produce receipts of the electronics, the defendant could not produce any.

The prosecutor said that the offence, contravened the provisions of sections 265 and 139 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Oladunmoye Olatunji admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.

Olatunji ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have a verifiable address.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 31 for hearing.
