Anger rests in the bosom of a fool, the Bible says. In moment of anger, it is better to delay action and utterances lest one regrets later. Every short-tempered person must make a conscious effort to control their anger before crises. It is a conscious and a deliberate practice one should adhere to.
Whenever you are in the heat of anger and people are pacifying you, you need to yield to their voices, or leave the premises and go somewhere to cool your head.
This brings me to the current story of one Uchechukwu who was recently accused of killing his apprentice while he (boss) was in a fit of rage. That’s the power anger has over its victims. It would cover and overpower his targets, to the extent that they won’t succumb until they have done or say something terrible.
There’s no one who can’t get angry, irrespective of his nature. From time to time, you will come across people that will make you angry. One sure antidote of anger is patience. If you have maids, helps and unskilled individuals serving you, in one capacity or the other, it is essential you exercise unusual kind of patience, if not, you might take an action that might lead to something bad.
If you have had negative experiences from this set of people, you would agree with me that it is better not to engage their services, if you won’t endure with them. This is because, constantly, they are bound to get on your nerves. And if you belong to the category of people with irrepressible anger, then you have no business having them around you. Some of them, sometimes, will mess up assigned tasks or not attempt them. You find out that you keep repeating same instruction every time.
Another reason patience is key is that many of the younger hands are inexperience, with lower intelligence quotient compared to their bosses. So, you need patience to go down to their level, explaining things in details, even if it will take time before they understand. Patience can never be too much. Of course, despite the fact that some of them are lazy, liars, unfaithful, indifferent, among them are brilliant, honest, loyal, intelligent and good people even though they are few.
There are the qualities every boss-man should have.
Every human being should be respected. No human being is superior to another. Avoid every form of maltreatment such as beating and inflicting injury on them. They are humans like yourself. And if it seems you won’t be able to cope with them, release them. Imagine if Uchechukwu, the accused has discharged Sunday, the situation would have been different. It is better to let them go than to go to prison. Many ‘ogas’ and ‘madams’ are serving one term or the other in jail due to uncontrolled anger and punishment they meted on people under them.
No one is perfect. Learn to see yourself through people, especially people you consider or feel you have power over. With this, the patience would come.
Love people regardless of their background, pedigree, race, tribe and nationality. Care for them.
