ATLANTIC CITY
We have struck a deal with the waves
Say it loud and very clear
We have struck a deal with the Atlantic waves.
Only yesterday,
The ocean threatened fire and brimstones
Surging like a pestered cobra,
It felled the bars of our bosom beach.
Its target was to upset Katrina’s record
Its record-dreadful ploy:
To bring our Island’s Victory to its very base
But with sheer ingenuity of the human brain,
We teased the mermaid with a deal
Clipped the effrontery of the roaring waves.
Strengthening the centre of our trusted excellence,
A city has risen from the sparkling waves!
Carved like Onabrakpeya’s ornament,
Lawned like an Eden recovered,
It teases the eyes with pretty towers
At the Atlantic City,
Lagos renews its itself,
Paradise cruises home
Dubai misses a breath
London stands stunned
As the world receive the full complement of a Newer York.
