Six labourers were on Monday docked in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for alleged conspiracy and theft of iron rods worth N1.7 million from a construction company.
The defendants are; Abiodun Adewoye; 56, Wasiu Anigilaje; 25, Abass Tiamiyu; 34, Shina Qudus;44, Rasheed Raheem; 20 and Damilare Olaitan; 29.
Adewoye, Anigilaje, Tiamiyu and Qudus, all residents of Surulere Area of Lagos, were arraigned on two count charges each of conspiracy and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the men, and others still at large, committed the offences on Jan. 8, at Obele, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan alleged that the men, on the same date, time and place, conspired and stole iron rods worth N1.7 million, property of Megamound Investment Limited.
The Offences, Ekhueorohan, said, contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded innocence of the charges preferred against them.

Phenomenal reports that Section 287 prescribes seven years jail term for stealing, while conspiracy, according to Section 411, attracts two years jail term.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sadiq Bello, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000, with one surety each in like sum.
Bello said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until Jan. 27 for trial.
