Elder statesman, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has reacted to Monday declaration by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that he will contest for Presidency in 2023.
Tinubu had visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, where he told him about his intention.
While the move has elicited diverse views, Adebanjo says what is most important to him and the Pan Yoruba group in which he is a leader – the Afenifere – is the Constitution.
‘The Punch’ quotes him in an interview on Tuesday: “He (Tinubu) has the constitutional right to contest for President just like anybody, there is no big deal in that.
“I am not commenting on any candidature now. I am not recommending any candidature under this constitution until it is changed.
“I don’t believe in any election without changing the constitution so there is no point commenting on the candidates.”
