If anyone has doubts about how well the Nigerian music industry is thriving he just needs to visit Davido’s Instagram page.
The star artiste says he made $12m in the year.
This has turned many people into mathematicians as they have fervently been converting the amount into naira.
They re getting between five and six billion naira.
The same Davido had also, weeks ago, thrown up another style of celebrity money raising when he called for donation towards his new car.
He got N200m fast, although he eventually announced he was donating it to charity, plus a N50m he added.
Days before, mathematicians were at work when Wizkid staged a sold-out show at the 02 Arena.
They considered the volume of tickets sold and came up with some N5bn.
Now, if a show fetched Wizkid that much, how much did he make the whole year?
The mathematicians indeed have more work to do.
More importantly, the two scenarios reinforce the fact that the Nigerian music industry has really grown and is attracting good money.
Burna Boy appears to be the biggest, if Grammys has to be used to rate the Nigerian musicians.
But some would be quick to note that Wizkid might be ahead of him in terms of global exploits.
Whatever the case, what matters is that he too must be raking in billions like his compatriots.
Now consider several other top players and rising ones who are busy spinning art and earning money in various currencies.
Interestingly, Burna Boy was initially calculated to have mocked or beefed Davido when the latter first made the $12m declaration.
But he later clarified a cryptic post he made, saying he and Davido has no problem.
He explained, “David wasn’t tryna 1 on 1 me but we figured it out. 2022 all of us must love ourselves by force. If not, make we just kill ourselves. No middle again. Forward ever backwards never. This is my last post of the year. God bless us all.” (sic)

May would believe that such spirit is actually what the giants need to continue rule the world and rule the banks.
