The battle for justice for deceased pupil, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr is not the only one that elite schoo, Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, has to fight.
Parents of the deceased are calling for justice as well as the truth of the matter, with the Lagos State Government shutting the school on Friday.
But, as it normally happens in a challenging circumstance like this, the battle to regain a clean profile is one Down still needs to fight.
Already, the story of the death of the pupil has hit the school’s Wikipedia page, just as it has entered Internet’s memory.
A visit to the page on Friday evening reveals to Phenomenal.com.ng that whoever supplied the info does not hide under any technicality of ‘allegation’, as the account rather indicates that Sylvester was bullied to death by cultist schoolmates.
Here is what the profile reads (sic):
Dowen College is a co-education college located in Lekki, a suburb of Lagos.
The college takes both boarding and day pupils and admits them between the age of 11–18 years. In 2015, the school organised a valedictory service, where outstanding students in their academy performance were rewarded.

Death of a 12 year old boy
On December 2021, a boy, who was only 12 years old that goes by the name Sylvester Oromoni was bullied and beaten to death by 5 seniors who are currently at large, for refusing to join their cult. According to the deceased’s father, they also gave him a chemical substance to drink. Sylvester died a painful and sad death and this has led to the indefinite closure of the secondary school by the Lagos State Government pending outcome of their investigation.
The hashtag #JusticeForSylvesterOromoni is currently trending by many interested parties and concerned citizens.
The story of Sylvester’s death is attracting sympathy and anger.
It has caused a lot of agony for his parents to the extent that his father, Mr Sylvester Oromoni, could not hold tears back during an interview with ‘The Punch’.
Several celebrities have joined the call for justice over the tragedy.
