President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, in the Aso Villa, Abuja.
Although the reason for the visit has not been made public, it could border on security or international matters in which Jonathan has been involved.
Observers, however, also recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention is close by, with the date put at February.
There are some members of the party who have suggested the Ijaw man as the party’s candidate, believing he could cross over from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The former President has not made any categorical statement on this.
He has, however, been closer to Buhari, unlike in the early days of the APC government when there was strain.
Also, the constant probing of Jonathan’s wife, Patience, has receded.
Jonathan’s case is opposite that of another former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who was with Buhari at the beginning but has later been estranged and stayed away.
