One of the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele has promised to take good care of the party and transform the living conditions of the people of the state.
Bamidele, spoke with newsmen on Friday in Ado-Ekiti shortly after completion of his familiarisation tour of the 16 local governments areas of the state on Friday.
The APC governorship aspirant noted that the tour was to celebrate with people of the state during this Yuletide and also distribute food items and other essential commodities for the people.
Bamidele, who is also Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, said the tour was also to solicit the support of leaders and party delegates ahead of the Jan. 22, 2022 APC governorship primary election.
He said he canvassed for their support to enable him clinch the party’s gubernatorial ticket and also win the June 2022 governorship election in the state.
Bamidele said he understood the feelings of the common man on the streets, adding that if Ekiti APC failed to get it right through the primary election, it might be difficult for it to win the main governorship election.
Bamidele added that the anointing of God is upon him to turn the state around in which elders, men, women, youths, and children will experience dividends of democracy.
“I have seen a lot in life, I understand what the common man feels on the streets because I have experienced such before,” he said.
He noted that Gov. Kayode Fayemi has done well, saying that he needed someone to continue from where he will be handing over the baton in Oct. 16, 2022.
He reminded the party members that the governor had not endorsed anybody, because he believed that Fayemi would not do anything to pull down the party in the state.
“If they are deceiving you, do not deceive yourself. Gov. Kayode Fayemi has not endorsed anybody, I have the right to also use Fayemi’s name because I have been his friend for over 40 years.
“But I do not want to tarnish his good name, because it will look as if he wants to impose me on the people of Ekiti, I am here to appeal for your votes during the party’s primary in January,” Bamidele said.
He emphasised the need to allow the party flag bearer in the forthcoming election emerge through a fair and free primary.
According to him, the victory of the party at the general election should be the priority of all members of the party.

He said that members of the party needed to be more united than ever and remain loyal to the course of the party in the coming election.
“With what I have achieved in life, God has done well for me; the only thing that I am pursuing in life now is the kingdom of God.
“With my experience in life, I have touched many lives in Ekiti and I promise to do more if given the mandate to be the governor of the state in 2022,” he added.
Other party stalwarts who spoke on the aspiration of Bamidele are former House of Representatives members, Mr Olamide Oni and Dr Tunji Asaolu.
The duo called for more support for his candidacy and described him as the right man for the job.
