Court remands man for allegedly stealing catfish worth N1m

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, ordered that a 27-year-old man, Seun Fisayo, who allegedly stole catfish worth N1 million be remanded, pending bail application.
The police charged Fisayo with theft.
Magistrate Olusola Aluko, who did not grant the defendant bail, asked the Defence Counsel, M.A. Adeyemi, to file a written bail application for the consideration.
Aluko therefore remanded the defendant in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional centre.
The magistrate adjourned the matter until Jan 27, for mention
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec 9, around 02:20 pm at No 9, Irepodun Mokuro Line 3, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant stole 350 catfish, worth N1 million property of Mr Feyemi Nicholas.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
