An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 24-year-old man, Ajimoko Toyosi, at a correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly house-breaking and theft.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, who did not take the plea of Toyosi ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Afunso adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for DPP’s advice.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of house-breaking and stealing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large on Dec.28 at 1:30 a.m. at Pitosin Hotel Phase 2 in Iworoko-Ekiti.
Akinwale said that the defendant broke into the houses of Mr Ajila Olamilekan and Mr Samuel Olaoluwa.

He said that the defendant stole one 32 inches LG plasma television valued N50,000, one play station 3 pad HDMI cord valued N21,000 and three shirts worth N21,000 belonging to Olamilekan.
Akinwale said that the defendant tried to evade arrest by introducing himself as a member of Oduduwa Peoples Congress to a security guard, Mr Isiaka Shaibu.
He said that the defendant also stole one Techno povour 2 pro handset valued N48,000, one Dell laptop 3150 Note book PC valued N60,000 and one Dell laptop valued N72,000 belonging to Olaoluwa.
Akinwale said that the offences contravened Sections 411(1)(2) and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
