Anglican bishop urges faithful to draw closer to God

Christians have been implored to use the period of the Advent to re-examine their lives in order to draw closer to God,
The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, gave the charge on Sunday at St. Paul’s Parish Amesi in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra.
Ezeofor, in a sermon of Confirmation and Admission Service into Girls Guild, Women’s Guild and Anglican Men’s Fellowship urged the faithful to embrace God the more.
He reminded the parishioners that it was a great privilege for one to be a beneficiary of God’s blessings and urged Christ faithful to live a good life as people accountable to God.
He said that Christians should always give true testimony about Jesus Christ, where ever the resided and promote the articles of the Anglican Communion.
Ezeofor urged all the parishes under Amaiyi Archdeaconry, to prepare themselves properly to enable them benefit from God’s abundant blessings.
He cautioned the faithful to desist from claiming what they were not and warned against taking the glory that belonged to another person.
In a remark, the Archdeacon of Amaiyi Archdeaconry, Venerable Ifeanyi Ogbueli, commended the faithful that received the Sacrament of Confirmation and those admitted into various groups to always aspire to be role models.
He said that the 52 people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation would be followed up so that they maintain their faith in the communion.
Also the Vicar of St. Paul’s Church Amesi, Rev. Joseph Uwakwe appreciated the Ezeofor for the visit and assured that he would continue to work in the house of God to promote the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Uwakwe admonished the 17 girls admitted into Girls Guild, as well as the 45 women admitted into Women’s Guild to hold fast to all the teachings giventhem.
He said that it was expected that they would be good examples of followers of Christ in their homes and work places.
Uwakwe charged the 23 men inducted into the Anglican Men’s fellowship during the service to be the soldiers of Christ and also home pillars as demanded by God.

“Fathers are the heads of their families and they have mandate from God to raise a Christian home where good children are raised for the Kingdom of God and the society,” he said.
