Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has described the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, as a traditional ruler endowed with immense wealth and sagacity by God.
Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, the Media Adviser to the Alawe, in a statement on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, said Ooni Ogunwusi gave this indication when he paid the first class traditional ruler a visit in his palace in Ilawe-Ekiti.
Olubunmi said the visit by the Yoruba foremost traditional ruler had in attendedance Olori Abimbola, wife of the Alawe, as well as members of the Alawe In Council
Olubunmi said Oba Ogunwusi particularly commended the Alawe for his leadership qualities and dynamic performance while his tenure as the Chairman of Ekiti Traditional Council lasted.
He said the Ooni, during the visit, enjoined the people of Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and the Federal Government to tap from the wealth of experience of the Alawe.
Olubunmi said Oba Ogunwusi also used the opportunity to narrate the ancient affinity of Ilawe-Ekiti to Ile Ife and promised to always involve Ilawe in special traditional activities of Ife.
“Ooni further said, “the Alawe is endowed with wisdom and sagacity by God which he exhibited to the whole world during his tenure as the Chairman of Ekiti Obas.
“At a particular traditional Rulers’ meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, Alawe spoke on behalf of all Obas from the Southwest and his speech was greeted with thundering ovation and acceptability.”
Olubunmi said Oba Alabi had earlier in his remarks, commended the leadership role of Oba Ogunwusi among Yoruba Obas both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
He said the Alawe also expressed his gratitude to the Ooni of Ife for his quick intervention during the misunderstanding among Ekiti Obas while he (Oba Alabi) was the Chairman of Ekiti state Council of traditional Rulers.
Olubunmi said Oba Alabi thanked the Ooni for the visit and further reiterated the love and support of Ilawe people to the Ooni and the entire people of Ife.
