Why you can’t pluralise ‘potential’

Did you know that it is wrong to use the word, ‘potential’ in the plural sense? It is simply not correct to do so. That is, there is an error in a statement like ‘The boy has many potentials.’

The fact is that, like research, rubble and offspring, ‘potential’ is a non-count noun that rejects pluralisation.
