A Board Member of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Major General Taritimiye Gagariga, has awarded five players from Niger state scholarship .
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday, Gagariga said he was motivated by the exceptional performance of the five young players at the Kotangora Volleyball Challenge cup Competition in Kontagora, Niger State.
Gagariga said he was delighted to give the young players scholarship in Niger state in order to support them in their education.
He said his passion is to give young players a bright future to play the sports and to enjoy their education without facing any reason of funding in their academy.
The general emphasized that the relevance of education in one’s career can never be overemphasized as it touches every aspect of one’s life including learning the game of volleyball.
“I am urging all junior players to take their education with all seriousness as it will project their image.
” I want to re-assure you all of my unrelenting support to your educational pursuits.
“The awards was organized and conducted to inculcate the desire for education to the participants while developing and improving their chosen career as Volleyball players,” he said.
Gagariga who is also the Commander Corps of Artillery stated that both players who emerged best Libero will be sponsored throughout their secondary school to include their WAEC, NECO and JAMB.
NAN reports that the five young players who had the award are Abbas Ibrahim from Defense Spikers of Abuja.
Destiny Ayuba from Vulcan Volleyball Club of Kotangora. Mary Anebi, Martha Anebi and Blessing Anebi from Scorpion Spikers Abuja
The general added that theses students will be sponsored throughout their secondary school to include their writing of WAEC ,NECO and JAMB.
NAN also reports that the grassroots Education Foundation Scholarship Awards began December 2020 in the Nigerian Army School of Artillery Kachia.
