– The debate over whether the World Cup should be held every two years is still raging on after FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested the idea. Most people think it’s ridiculous to try to squeeze another international tournament into what is an already packed schedule for players, but there are some who think it could work.
– Belgium and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne believes that a biannual World Cup wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
– “At the start of the season, I had a meeting with FIFA and Arsene Wenger to explain to us what they wanted to do,” De Bruyne said in a press conference on Friday.

– “To do something like that, federations of all countries, UEFA and FIFA have to coordinate. Everyone has to work together.”
– He did stress, however, that the footballing calendar would need to be changed completely and that players would have to be given adequate time to rest.
– “I insisted on a second point, as I told them that they had to keep a real period of rest for us, the players, at the end of the season,” he added.
“The idea isn’t bad in itself, as long as everyone works together.”
