The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Akachukwu Nwankpo, has advised Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governor-elect of Anambra, to reach out to other candidates for support.
Nwankpo gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, in Awka, while reacting to the declaration of Prof. Soludo as the winner of 2021 governorship election in Anambra.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of November 6 governorship election in Anambra.
Soludo polled a total of112,229 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 53,807 to emerge second.
Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got a total of 43,285 votes to emerge third.
Prof. Florence Obi, Returning Officer for 2021 Anambra Governorship election, announced the results in the early hours of Wednesday at INEC headquarters, Awka.
Nwankpo said: “I congratulate Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the gubernatorial candidate of APGA, for a hard fought election.
“The people of Anambra want him to lead a deep seated effort to reform and rebuild our state. Anambra must now become a state run on the basis of the will and desire of our people.
“I further advise him to mount the horse of great leadership and reach out to other candidates with humility and respect so that together we can all start rebuilding.
“Reach to Mr Val Ozigbo of the PDP who is much loved and to Dr Andy Uba of APC, who has equally fought a hard campaign. Let us together build a state where all men of faith can find comfort and partnership.”
Nwankpo commended INEC for a free, fair, credible and peaceful election.
“We thank God for allowing peace to reign and the opportunity to allow the people’s will prevail in the election,” he said.
