Students of the Federal Polytechnic Idah on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest on campus over what they called unresolved complications in JAMB regularization.

The prompt intervention of the school authority with support from personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Ajaka Division, prevented the protest from degenerating.

The Students in the early hours of Tuesday converged on the 2nd gate of the Polytechnic and were chanting protest songs over the hitches they experience in the course of regularising their JAMB documents.

In a press release, the Divisional Civil Defence Officer of Ajaka Division DSC Aliu Sule disclosed that on receipt of the distress call, he mobilised his men who took control of the premises and critical assets from probable attack.

He noted that his officers who displayed high level of professionalism, by employing dialogue with the students and was able to bring the situation under peaceful control.

He added that his men promptly put a call to the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Baba Danjuma , whose address to the students on efforts being put in place to address the situation also helped in calming frey nerves.

According to him, ”my officers while taking control of the entrance to the polytechnic, also manned critical infrastructures within the vicinity to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the protest to vandalise the properties”

He called on the public to give prompt and useful information to the Security Agencies in order to fight crime and criminality.
