History has again bent for superstar footballer, Lionel Messi, as he has emerged winner of the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
It is his seventh, a feat that no one else has achieved.
The closes to him is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has five in his bank.
It was, indeed, not a rosy year o for Ronaldo as he finished 6, with the likes of Robert Lewandoski and Jorginho getting ahead of him.

Ironically, Messi’s former club, Barcelona, where he had the year, did not perform spectacularly but his individual efforts and achievements marked him out.
But Messi was also outstanding at the national level, helping Argentina to win COPA America.
