BBNaija’s former contestant, Cross, got a baptism of fire in South Africa as he was arrested by the country’s police.

He had run into a curfew, forcing the police to hold him.

He explains what happened: “So SA, I got stopped by your police. Apparently, there’s a curfew. They took me to their office. So guys I tell them say I get SA name called Siyabonga and my first time in SA and they smile and I think they wan let us go ooo Omo Japa Japa. My bed they call me thanks guys we free now.” (sic)

Another Nigerian reality star, Tayo Faniran, had a brush with the South African police during the xenophobic scare, while Grammys winner, Burna Boy also got a threat by some South Africans, based on the position he took on the violence going on then.

The SA has, however, been a good place to be for many Nigerian artistes too.
