As afro beat continues to spread across the world, star musician, Davido, has noted that it has a story behind it.
He said that, apart from being ‘lovable’, it is symbolic to African essence.
In an interview with CNN, Davido said, According to Davido, “I mean it has a story behind it. Apart from the fact that it’s rich music, it represents a whole culture. It represents a whole continent which is Africa. I grew up on hip hop. I used to love hip hop.
“But I used to play Afrobeats when I was in Alabama. My Caucasian friends and American friends will be like, “Yo! What’s that? I like that sound.
“So, I always knew that when people heard it, they’d love it.”
The genre, created with legendary musician, Fela, has become the in-thing even among Nigerian artistes who play other genres.
