Leaders of Pan Yoruba group, the Afenifere, closed the gulf between them and the All Progressives Congress leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday.
Despite the sustained feud between them, they visited Tinubu in his Ikoyi, Lagos home, to solidarise with him as he recuperates after coming out of the illness that took him to London.
The gesture, observers would note, seems to be reinforcing the message of legendary dramatist, Hubert Ogunde, in his album, Yoruba Ronu, meaning, Yoruba, reflect deeply and come together.
Tinubu and the Afenifere leaders, such as Pa Ayo Banjo, were together during the June 12 battle.
When democracy returned, they were also largely together in the Alliace for Democracy.
But things began to fall apart after Tinubu became Lagos State Governor when he asserted a kind of independence that the no more alligned with the group’s plans.
Eventually, they fell apart, with factions growing from the buds of the age-long association.
But the sentiments were set aside on Tuesday as the elders visited Tinubu.
The team included Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Supo Sonibare, Oba Olaitan Oladipo and retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Tunji Alapini.
Observers believe that his presidential aspiration may also benefit from the reunion, since politics is a game of allignment and reallignment, especially in Nigeria.
