A trader, Abba Magaji, was on Thursday docked in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, for alleged unlawful assembly and constituting public nuisance.
The police charged Magaji, 19, of Angwuan Hausawa, Karu village, Abuja with unlawful assembly and public nuisance.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju told the court that the defendant was arrested around the Muslim Cemetery on Aug. 27, where criminals sell hard drugs and hangout to perpetrate evil acts.
Adeyanju said that the police after investigation, discovered that the defendant was a member of a criminal gang that specialises in smoking and selling hard drugs.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 102 and 198 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Mr Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Maiwada said that the sureties must provide means of Identification, deposit utility bills, two passports each and their addresses verified by the court registry.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for mention.
