The Vice Chancellor of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, identified sports as a veritable means of curbing social vices among youths.
Ojediran said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ota, Ogun.
He explained that Bells University of Technology had used sports to engage its students, thereby keeping them away from social vices like drug abuse and cultism, among others.
“We encourage our students to engage in sports, thus keeping them busy and keeping them away from social vices.
“The issue of cultism and drug abuse are virtually minimised to the barest level on the campus,” Ojediran said.
The Vice-Chancellor called on other tertiary institutions to embrace sports and invest in sporting facilities so as to reduce social vices in the country.
Ojediran said suscipious links and moves were promptly cut short moments such were observed by putting in place and mobilisating supervisors to super them in their various halls of residence.
