The Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) says its main target is to ensure the adoption of the game by the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF), for grassroots development.
Coach Jacob Albeit-Dede, the Head Coach of the association said this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
“We understand that no sport can grow optimally without developing at the grassroots that is why we reached out to the school sports to form a synergy.
“We are optimistic that our proposal will be given kind consideration, we have written and they have acknowledged receiving our letter.
“Once this is done we are certain that we will have wider reach and introduce this sport in all schools because NSSF has that reach,” he said.
The coach further said that the association was working towards attracting more sponsors for its programmes.
“We have a lot lined up and we are optimistic that it will only get better, were at the final stage of negotiation with a foreign body that I wouldn’t like to disclose for now.
“Eventually when this sponsorship deal is sealed, a lot of development will follow and other potential sponsors will begin to take us seriously,” he said
