Popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, has painted a deep picture of how COVID-19 affected him financially.
The schourge has dealt with many people and organisations, though at varying degrees.
It brought wealth to some who saw vacuums to fill, but tormented many who were already in the processes of major dealings.
Interestingly, in the Nigerian entertainment scene, younger comedians like Mr Macaroni and Broda Shaggi , who are online-based, have reaped fortunes.
But it inflicted dislocations on those who operated the traditional, stage-based programmes.
In the case of Adeyinka, he recounts how a project he had committed much on got truncated by coronavirus.
In an interview with ‘Saturday Punch’, he says, “Being alive is my biggest achievement so far. Previously, I would think that creating one of the biggest platforms for comedy was my greatest achievement. More so, I used to think that staying this long in the industry and being the first person to start up a comedy magazine were my biggest achievements. However, COVID-19 made me realise being alive is my biggest achievement.

“COVID-19 took away the most important thing in my life. It took my source of livelihood. Unfortunately for me, I was planning a show just before the lockdown. I had invested a lot into it financially and it left me in debt.”
