Wale Anomo, Chairman, Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, in Epe Division of Lagos State on Tuesday charged youths not to depend on white collar jobs, but to be self-reliant.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe, Anomo said it was better to be an employer of labour than to be in perpetual search for elusive white collar jobs.
He also advised youths to seek for skilled and unskilled labour so as to be self- reliant and assured that the council would train and empower community youths in skills acquisition programmes.
Anomo said 100 youths in the community had been selected for training in skills acquisition and that they would be empowered after the training.
“This is part of my mandate and agenda as the council chairman.
“I pledge to run all-inclusive government and also to bring huge dividends of democracy to my people and to the community.’’ he said.
The chairman listed areas in which the youths would be trained to include fashion designing, hairdressing, carpentry, bathing saloon, and facial makeovers.
“White collar jobs are limited. It is therefore, important for youths to be self- dependent and to be employers of labour,’’ Anomo stressed.
