Squash Federation: Oyerinde deserves another term

Wasiu Sanni, Head Coach of Lagos State Squash Association (LSSA) on Thursday said that Boye Oyerinde, the President of the Nigeria Squash Federation deserves another term, giving his commendable performance.
Sanni who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, noted that the Oyerinde’s-led board gave priority to not just players but referees and coaches.

“I’d give him 90 per cent, he has really done well. It’s been long since we had a president that is deliberate about all aspect of squash, and it is commendable.
“Just of recent we had training with top international professionals, and Oyerinde understood that a player is just as good as his coach, and a coach cannot pour from an empty cup.
“In terms of competition, he has shown support for grassroots development, he has worked hard for the federation, and I believe his re-election will bring forth more development,” the coach said.
Sanni, however, said that the federation needed more reorientation for referees as there was the need for them to reacquaint themselves with new trends.
Seun Peters, former President of Professional Squash Players Association of Nigeria and Tomi Falase, the Chairman of LSSA, commended Oyerinde on the development of grassroots and professional players.
Falase said the Oyerinde- led administration had shown commitment towards the development of states associations, by giving them support when needed.
“He is a visionary leader and he carries everyone along. So, everyone has a sense of belonging which makes us all work towards making squash great.
“I believe his achievement is evident enough and that’s why he is coming out unopposed,” he said.
NAN reports that winners have emerged from other zonal elections.
Yusuf Durosinlorun emerged as North Central representative, Moses Helda, North East; Uche Uba, South East; Funkekeme Solomon, South South, and Umar Yusuf, North West.
Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has confirmed that elections into the board of national sports federations will hold on Nov. 30.
