As Funke Akindele’s ‘Omo Gheto’ waxes stronger on Netflix and Toyin Abrahams’ ‘The Ghost and the Tout’ gets a fair share of cinema viewing, the latter has spoken on the feud believed to be between her and Funke.
A reviewer had ignited what nearly assumed the status of a war when he scored ‘The Ghost’ low and elevated ‘Omo Ghetto’.
Toyin’s colleague and friend, Iyabp Ojo, had not only attacked the commentattor, she also knocked the person she believes sponsored the harsh criticism – Funke.
While Eniola Badmus has strategically absolved Funke, the story of the feud lingers.
Reacting to these, however, Toyin says she has no problem with Funke.
In a radio interview, Abraham said, “She is my senior colleague and she is someone I respect a lot; so, I do not know what people are talking about, trust me. She is one of the few people I look up to. Sometimes, people do not understand that we are colleagues and not family. So, you cannot be talking to all your colleagues. We talk, we follow each other.
“If I see her, I will kneel down and say, ‘Aunty Funke se wa okay,’ (meaning Aunty Funke are you okay?). A lot of people do not understand that we are working in the same space; we do not have to be close friends. When we see ourselves we greet each other. Forget social media, trust me.”
