Muslim women group of the Nasrl-Lahl-L-Fatih (NASFAT) has said it would raise N100 million during its forthcoming 22nd annual Women’s Week to build a world-class hospital in the country.
The group made this known on Wednesday in Lagos at a news conference to herald the week-long activities holding between Oct. 3 and Oct.10.
Speaking at the event, NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Suweebah Aduke-Kupolati, said the proposed hospital would help take care of peoples’ health in the society and check health tourism abroad.
Aduke-Kupolati described NASFAT as a pace setting Islamic charity and faith-based organisation with widespread acceptance across Nigeria and with not less than 360 branches across the globe.
According to her, the week-long celebration would bring women together from all professions across zones, branches and in the diaspora to discuss matters relating to women development.
“It aims to promote Islamic values in family and community developments and the realisation of the society’s mission and vision.
“It is a week-long event, holding same time across all zones and branches of our society.
“It will commence with a special prayer and celebration of our elders and widows as way of respect and care. Then fundraising dinner for the projects embarked upon by the women.
“The event will end with a grand finale to be held at the NASFAT Islamic Centre, Aseese on Sunday Oct.10,” she said.
She listed the programmes for the event to include, prayer for Nigerian families, celebrating widows and elderly by providing welfare support for them.
This would be followed by charity visits to the orphanages, hospitals and correctional centres.
Other events listed are empowerment to women, skill acquisition training in snail farming, tomato paste production, organic cosmetics, shoe and bag making, cake and small chop making, tie and dye had been administered.
She added that the group would visit some schools for campaign against kidnappings, sexual gender based violence and distribute books and flyers with tips against kidnappings and end violence against women and girls.
She said that the group would collaborate with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority to sensitise the public on clean environment and sanitation. Quraan recitation and quiz competition would feature too.
The women leader solicited the support of the public to enable the group achieve its project especially the mother and child world class hospital it intended to build.
She regretted the subsisting insecurity in the country and appealed to the authorities to carry women along in seeking for solution to the crisis as they were worse hit through husbands deaths and rape cases
