A day after he received the bill empowering Lagos State to collect the Value Added Tax in the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed it into law.
This, however, is as an Appeal Court in stopped Rivers State Government from implementin a similar law.
The two states have been at the forefront of the battle to get VAT collection from the Federal Government, which has been collecting it through the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The agency has been in legal battles with Rivers, and it is the one who took the government to the Apeal Court in Abuja after it lost in Rivers.
The appelate court on Friday ordered status quo ante Bellun.
