Embittered resident doctor, Adejo Arome, has described as an act of man’s inhumanity to man the idea of of asking a court to order resident doctors to go back to work when they are being owed four months’ salary.
Arome, who is the vice president of the National Association of Resident Doctors, said that was what the Nigerian physicians were being subjected to at the moment.
After talks failed, Labour Minister, Chris Ngige, sued the resident doctors who are on strike based on the money they are being owed, as well as other related issues.
A court ruled on the matter on Monday, giving an order the minister has interpreted to be one asking the workers to go back to hospitals.
Commenting on this on Tuesday, Arome, who noted that many resident doctors lived outside hospitals contrary to the practice in the sector, said, “You have not paid my salary for for months and you are asking a court to order me to go to work. Am I supposed to trek to work. That is injustice. That is man’s inhumanity to man. It is very insensitive.”
