The Director that Professor Ishaq Oloyede ought to have handed over to as the Acting Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Dr Yusuf Lawa, has spoken spoken on why he missed the role.
Oloyede had, a few days ag, handed over to Dr Fabian Benjamin, who is next to Yusuf.
According to him, Oloyede means no harm as he is engaged in with a course.
He said in a statement on Saturday:

My attention has been drawn to a plethora of chats on different platforms in the social media and some misinformation in a number of print media, on the otherwise simple handing over at JAMB. I have also received quite a number of phone calls on the same issue insinuating that I was deliberately bypassed in the handing over process and suggesting that it was deliberate. For those who have heard directly from me, I have explained to them that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the handing over by Professor Is-haq Oloyede to the most senior director available and on ground at the time that his FIRST tenure as Registrar expired, while the nation awaits the President’s decision.
For the records, I am currently attending a full-time 10-month course which will end in December 2021. I was therefore not on ground at JAMB at the time of the handing over. The next most senior director after me, Mr. Fabian Okoro was therefore, procedurally handed the operations of the Board in acting capability pending the decision of the President.
Also for the records, I personally signified interest to attend the course knowing fully well its duration and very conscious that Professor Oloyede would be completing his first tenure during the period of my studies. It is therefore not true that Professor Oloyede forced or schemed me to attend the course for any ill-conceived reasons on his part.
I believe that we should be fair in our judgement of Professor Oloyede on the process of the handing over to an Acting Registrar at the end of his FIRST tenure at JAMB, which I believe followed a normal procedure. Similar process was carried out in other agencies without insinuations and I was actually not expecting that I would be withdrawn from the course which I am almost completing, in order to act for an unspecified period which could be for a few days or weeks, while truncating the course.
I am immensely grateful to everyone who has expressed concern on the issue, but I believe that we should be fair in our judgement.
