Star actress, Funke Akindele, has reflected on her experience when she lost her first marriage.
She said it was a very tough situation for her but she did not allow it to break her.
The marriage with Adeola Kehinde Oloyede elaborately ended in Lagos but it never lasted – like those of some of her colleagues that include Ini Edo and Tiwa Savage.
Speaking to Chude Jideonwo, Akindele, who is now married to Abdu Rasheed Bello, also an entertainer and entrepreneur, she said news of the marriage collapse got to her when she was on location.
She noted: ‘I was actually filming and somebody called me and told me, I cry, you know I wanted to die.’
Now wiser, Akindele has messages especially for younger ladies: ‘if you rush in you’ll rush out.
“Do not be pressured to get married. Get married because you want to get married.
“Ignore the gossips, ignore the naysayers. Give them the middle finger because you have your life, do what makes you happy.”
