The new Olu of Warri, HRH Ogiame Atuwaste, knows how to turn adversity to blessing.

He demonstrated this on Saturday when he erased a curse placed on the land by his father who felt betrayed when he was removed as the king.
At the same time, his coming faced the threat of the missing diamond crown which no other Warri oba had missed in 400 years.
Yet, his head received a golden one, even as the police continue to search or the sacred crown.

AOgiame Atuwaste lll was coronated exactly 3:25pm by the Uwangue of Warri, Chief Gabriel Awala.

Ogiame Atuwaste lll was crowned with a gold crown since the centuries old crowns remain missing.

According to him, the incident of the stolen crown has given the monarchy the “privilege to introduce a new pair of gold and silver crowns to the already rich history of Itsekiri”.

However, he emphasised that no part of the entire process leading to his coronation was his “own doing”.
