An Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State-based man, Emmanuel Bejide, is now facing the law after allegedly raping a daughter of his.
Bejide is alleged to have been raping the girl since 2020,when he was said to have lured her to a hotel.
He is said to be 40 while the daughter is 17.
To this end, an Ekiti State Magistrate’s Court has remanded him the Ado Ekiti Custodial Centre, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter.
According to the police prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, the defendant “was reasonably suspected to have several times raped his 17-year-old biological daughter, who is a Senior Secondary School three student, between September 2020 and July 2021, at Ikere Ekiti.”
‘The Punch’ quoted him as saying, “The victim had, while narrating her ordeal to the police, said her father lured her to a hotel in Akure, the Ondo State capital, sometime in September 2020, and started having sexual intercourse with her with the promise to take her to Malaysia.”
Bejide was arrested on August 21, 2021, when the case was reported at the police station; the offence runs contrary to Section 31 of the Child Right Laws of Ekiti State.
The prosecutor pleaded with the court to remand the defendant so he could forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The Magistrate, Mojisola Salau, who granted the prayers of the prosecutor, ordered the remand of the defendant pending legal advice.
