Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, has alleged that the Academic Staff Union of Universities called him with an unknown number.
He said this in response to a claim by ASUU’s President, Emmanuel Osodeke, that the Federal Government does not take its calls again.
Osodeke stated this when warning that ASUU would begin another strike, even after the last one had ravaged the university calendar, with many of the universities vis-à-vis the students losing a whole calendar year.
ASUU said the government had refused to honour the agreement they reached, including the payment of outstanding monies.
Reacting, however, Nwajiuba, as quoted by ‘The Punch’ in a report on Tuesday, said, ““Why won’t the Federal Government take their calls? You called me with an unknown number and I picked your call, so why won’t we pick calls from ASUU? Who did they reach out to? Talks on the funds for the revitalisation of universities and ASUU are in progress.
“We are pursuing the CBN to be clear on the timing. Let ASUU reach out to us.”
